Watson Family | Family Portrait |Wallabadah

Being in business for over 15 years as a photographer in the Tamworth area definitely has its perks. I get to meet amazing couples for their engagement shoots, then their wedding, & then the babies.

This is the case with Matt & Ellen. They have been married 9 years & three babies later I still love catching up & sharing/photographing in all their big moments in their life together.

In October last year I did their maternity/family portrait for baby number 3. I just adored this shoot. A family of five in the paddock at home. Kids & horses & an amazing sunset. So fast forward to nearly a year later baby number 3, Meg is nearly a year old.

Matt & Ellen always have a family shoot for every new member of the family. Matt & Ellen choose to not have a newborn shoot but when bub is a little older. They do this as you can see their little personality shine through. Whilst I love newborns shoots I agree & as you will see with these photos, Megs personality & her relationship with her brother & sister shines through.

I had such a beautiful time, as usual catching up with Rosie, Roy & little Meg. They are the most hilarious, down-to-earth, well mannered kids. Thanks Ellen & Matt for being such great parents & such great people.

cant wait till we meet again.

Leach Family | Family Portrait |Tamworth

Last week I caught up with Cath & Bart Leach for their family portrait out at their family home at Moore Creek.

I first met Cath & Bart back in 2013 for their wedding at Tangarratta. I just adored this wedding. Cath & Bart were one of the best couples I haveever photographed. Yes my type of couple. Funny, in-love, had great friends & family that were up for any photo. I remember their day fondly, I came away from that wedding with a sore mouth from laughing & smiling so much.

Like many of my couples I keep in contact through facebook, & I love seeing their posts of their new babies & special things happening in their life. So when Cath contacted me saying they needed a family shoot I couldn’t wait.

Their kids Max, Molly & Sadie are just like Cath & Bart, cruisey, relaxed, friendly & very funny. SO I just loved every minute!!

I just adore your photos. Your family is just adorable You cant beat a family shoot at home. Everyone is relaxed, the fridge isn’t to far a way for a beer.

Good luck in choosing a favourite!!

Thanks again guys

cheers Karissa

Doherty Family | Family Portraits |Tamworth NSW

My first shoot since returning from Cambodia was the Doherty family, Andrew, Nicole, Zoe & Jackson.

I first met Nicole & Andrew when she was pregnant with Zoe. The location for the pregnancy shoot was The Doherty families farm at Loomberah, just outside of Tamworth.

I just love catching up with families again to see how they have changed & see how the kids have grown.

The farm was a little different this time with the drought. Though green paddocks are beautiful & make amazing photographs I also love photographing when the paddocks are like this. I guess you can see beauty in anything.

At the Doherty family farm near Tamworth we had the perfect family portrait setting of green by the creek & dusty paddocks, the best of both worlds.

Nicole & Andrew also wanted to have a few photos with Andrew’s mum & dad to make it extra special.

We also organised a few shots a few days later when they had all the kids & grandkids home.

It was so lovely catching up again. Thanks again

Brown Family |Family Portraits | Redhead Beach, Newcastle

In April I was lucky enough to travel to Newcastle for so many family shoots. But this shoot of Shane & Jacqui was extra special to me.

Shane is my cousin, so I guess you can say we have known each other for a little while now.

I photographed their wedding in Tamworth, a few years back, which was so much fun.

“The Cronin” family weddings are always a blast. So many laughs, good times, banter & oodles of dancing. Whilst I love weddings like this, especially ones where I know most of the guests, I do also love shooting individual families.

Jacqui & Shane asked me to capture their family at Redhead beach on an early Sunday morning. A perfect location for little Austin. To him this was not a photoshoot it was all about exploring, chasing birds & trying to get himself wet as well as his parents .

It is hard to get up super early for a sunrise shoot but the results are always incredible. On the east coast of Australia the sunrise over the ocean is always gorgeous. Along with Redheads’ beach of amazing cliffs, rocks & different textures we had the perfect morning.

It was so lovely catching up & spending time with “The cousins”. Thanks again Shane + Jacqui + Austin

Tamworth Natural Newborn Photography – Joel + Belinda & Roy

Newborn Photography Shoot

Many people choose their family photographer for newborns based on the type of photography they personally like.

Some couples love highly posed in studio where they can control the environment & they put their newborns in poses & props. Whilst I do love some of these  shoots its not really my style.

The style of newborn photography I like is where you are at home or outside. Where you hold your baby close in your arms & I get to see & feel the relationship & love you have for your new little one. I see you interacting, comforting & holding this precious gift close to your heart.

Your bub is fully clothed, wrapped & feeling very secure. This is when I feel you get the best photos of your new bub.

This style of shoot suited Joel & Belinda perfectly. They live on a gorgeous farm where they have gorgeous horses & amazing sunsets. The place where Roy will take his first steps, the place he will call home. The place where a families memories are made.

Thank you again Belinda & Joel for inviting me to photograph your precious new family. There is so many amazing pictures of you all. I had such a hard time choosing my favourites.

Cheers Karissa xxtamworthnewbornphotographer

Tamworth Realistic Family Photography -Emily & Campbell

Emily & Campbell Realistic photoshoot at home.

A few weeks back whilst in Australia I received message from Emily asking for a shoot. She seen I was back from Cambodia & knew she wanted a family shoot.

I met Emily & Campbell years ago when they were just engaged. They came to Uralla for a shoot & from that time I have photographed them & two of their newborn babies. I then left for Cambodia. Since that time they had 2 more gorgeous kids.
When Emily called me she said no more new babies but she wanted to capture the realities of having a family of 4 as well as capturing the kids in the home, all her children came home to after being born.
Emily & Campbell’s home is near Dungowan that has a hilltop view that overlooks a spectacular valley. It also has amazing sunsets from up there.
Following a crazy shoot in mum & dads bed which is what most families do on a lazy Sunday, down the stairs on the realities of trying to get everyone out the door but never on time, we headed out to the top of hills to also capture what living in the country with kids is like.

Designer clothes – That showed them as a family

When we ventured outside Emily & her family were dressed in Robyn Ru- Spunky Bruiser
I just adored catching up with Emily & Campbell again but also seeing how her kids have grown & their individual personalities.
Thanks again. I do hope we catchup again!

Tamworth Newborn/family photography -Ben & Holly, Alfie & Huxley

I’ve known Holly & Ben since they were married nearly five years ago in The hunter Valley. Since then we have kept in contact & have been one of my favourite families to photograph. Since their wedding they have had two gorgeous boys, Alfie & Huxley.
Huxley was born in February so when Huxley was 5 weeks we organised a  newborn shoot.

So many photographers say newborn shoots have to happen in their first 3 weeks. I tend to disagree with this with the style of my newborn photography shoots. Bub is always fully clothed, wrapped & warm. So if bub isn’t sleepy they are usually content & not crying. If bub is a few weeks older they usually have a little more head strength too. So my newborn shoots are always less stressful & mum & dad are also less stressed. Yes most of the time my newborn shoots are outside with natural light & I just simply love it! As you will see by this shoot.
I just love catching up with my families to capture their memories & big milestones in their life.
Ben & Holly live out towards Duri on their family farm which is the perfect backdrop for a shoot. Sentimental & amazing shoots. Despite being in one of the worse droughts, bare paddocks looked amazing in the photos.
That day we had a cracker of a sunset which you will see below. The kids had enough by that stage but I stuck around to just watch the amazing sunset.
Can’t wait to photograph the boys together when their running around together.
Loved catching up with you both xx

Tamworth Newborn Photographer- Jarrod & Mel

I get so excited when one of my past wedding couples calls me for a shoot.

Mel & Jarrod were married in Tamworth 5 years ago, Mels home town but returned to QLD after the wedding.

So when Mel contacted me saying they had moved back to Tamworth & they had their second daughter I was stoked to catchup & meet the newest members of the family.

We also chose Mel’s family farm at the top of Moonbi’s for their shoot. We also did their engagement shoot their. This location is stunning. Australian bush, long grass, textured boulders & gorgeous sunsets. This was a gorgeous place.

I also suggested to Mel if her mum & dad & brothers wanted a few shots, why not come up for 10 minutes for a few.

Mel & Jarrod’s oldest Charlotte is one gorgeous kid, with personality plus that she had me in stitches all afternoon.

Little Olivia was the perfect baby, sleeping through most of the shoot.

It was so lovely to see you Mel & Jarrod & to see a couple still the same happy, cruisey, friendly & in love, the couple you were at your wedding.

Thanks again xx

Cheers Karissa

Tamworth Newborn Family Portrait-Sean & Karen

Most of my newborn shoots I do now are outdoors where the light is natural, where older siblings can run around & play as we photograph the newest member of the family.
This is exactly what Karen & Shaun wanted for their family portrait. They love the outdoors & so do their kids.

Really close friends of theirs James & Sandra have the most gorggeous farm just outside of Tamworth in the hills. So after a 4WD to the top I was met by this incredible location. One of the best I have ever seen.
Rolling hills, gorgeous light, an amazing timber shack & oodles of room for the kids to run around.
Yes the perfect spot for a newborn shoot.

So here are a few of my favourite images from that day.
Thankyou so much for such a great afternoon & meeting the newest member of your family.

Phnom Penh Portrait Photography- Yuki & Kylie Cute Couple Shoot

Kylie & Yuki – Couple Shoot Phnom Penh, Cambodia

What do you do when one of your great mates moves away to the countryside of Siem Reap? You of course do a couple shoot to say goodbye.

My hubby & I have known Kylie & Yuki for a few years now & just adore these guys.

We will miss them greatly but know they are moving onto bigger, better adventures.

After we first met Kylie & Yuki they said that they actually never had a proper photographer for their wedding. They had never had professional shoot. So I knew one day we would make this happen.

Locations spotting

So of course down to the last week before they left Phnom Penh we squeezed in a shoot. They didn’t know where they wanted their shoot so I went on the scout. Cambodia has so many fabulous locations, but thinking about traffic, trying to dodge garbage -its a city I found a spot not far from their house. A little field with tiny flowers that would glisten in the sun & then a second location just a bare paddock with some gorgeous grass, textures & a place to  to capture the sunset.

Thanks guys for trusting me & having so much fun. I had a huge smile as I was editing these pics. Your just such a fun, cute couple.

Cant wait to catch-up with you guys soon in Siem Reap
